When Jesus died, He paid the price for my sins. So why do I still suffer the consequences of sin if he has paid the price?

This is a pretty tough question. To start it out, we have to make a distinction—rather than thinking of suffering in a Christian’s life as consequences, think of it as discipline. God tells us that He disciplines those He loves, just like a loving father would discipline his children. By disciplining us, He shows us the difference between right and wrong and He brings us to where He wants us to be. God paid the penalty for our sins so we don’t have to suffer the second death—Hell. But, because of His love for us, He disciplines us and brings us into the relationship with Him that He wants.
