Why are some of the stories in the Bible similar to some mythological stories? Did the Bible copy off of other religious myths and legends?

There are many stories in the Bible that are very similar to different mythological stories. For instance, there is a story of a worldwide flood in the Epic of Gilgamesh. Also, the story of the Fall sounds very similar to the myth of Pandora’s Box. But just because these stories are similar does not mean that the Bible copied them. The Bible might parallel myths and stories at times because the events that transpired are very real, and whereas the Bible recorded a correct history of it, other people put the event into poetic allegories that told the truth of the story but in a very different way. The truth of the matter is that these stories are more of an affirmation of our faith than a deterrent—if other people thousands of years ago recorded the same events of the Bible, the events that take place in the Bible must have merit.
